Through to day 2 in IPT Campione
Played the £2.200 IPT Campione Main Event in lovely Italy. The tourney was good value with 482 players and a lot of Italian fish. Of course also some really good players like Luca Pagano and the bracelet winners Kovalchuk and Max Pescatori. The first price was a nice €240 000.
Started out winning one of the first pots of the day, good feeling! Later I lost 2 hands in a row to full houses…. One of them -Ac9c vs -88, on 68c96c7 board, the river was a straight board and saved me though and I got away pretty cheap.
25/150/300 After establishing my TAG image I made a squeeze with -AQ on sb. UTG 725, mp called, btn called, I made it 3050. KJ8 on the flop and I c-bet 3900. He flat called, turn came a 7. I checked and he checked back. River 9, I made a big bet and he folded… Up to 30K
Didn’t pick up any useful hands, stayed patient and finally picked up KK… then suddenly the first misdeal at my table of the day, noooo…..
There was a huge tilted mega fish at the opposite side of my table today. Really funny show! He started out by losing some pots and then calling a 5-bet all in preflop 60bb with A9o.. Obviously up against AK and he hit the 9 on the river lol! Then he got AA himself and lost it to KQ hitting 2 pair for a big pot. His face expression and steaming was really entertaining. New guys came to my table without the knowledge of this big fish. Stefano Demontis a good player to my right made a good bluff but was terribly called down by this fish for a huge pot… big mistake. The whale continued to spew a lot of chips and I was hoping he would donate also to me but not this time.
I didn’t hit one really big flop the whole day but tried to keep my stack with some bluffs. I played patiently and made some OK bluffs but didn’t hit anything to help me grow the stack. Had to fold a couple of good hands to 3 bets after missing the flop and in general I was struggling the whole day.
I was hoping my heater would come day 2. Fairly short 20bb’s but with some aggressive game and luck anything could happen…
