Poker, party and sun await in the Battle of Malta this week!
After two nice weeks together with my family in Gothenburg I’m now back in St Julians, Malta again. I look forward to playing Pokerlistings €500 000 GTD Battle of Malta at Portomaso Casino this week!Last year the tournament had exactly 888 entrants…a lucky sign for me! Have a feeling this one will turn out as great tournament this year, they expect 1,200+ entrants with the €550 buy in.
The World Poker Tour was held here in 2011, the first year I visited Malta and immediately fell in love with this wonderful little island. The warm and nice climate is golden when your’e used to the rather rainy and cold Swedish weather. Now three years later me and Luca have bought an apartment in St Julians and moved here. One thing I experienced my first year here in Malta was the total hopelessness to plan with carpenters and other craftsmen from southern Europe. The first ten times we booked an early appointment we were naive enough to actually believe they would show up on time. Quite frustrating to get up 8am after a long nights poker grind and nothing happened until 11am when they call saying ”sorry for this but we will come next week…” While renovating our apartment this happened over and over again ans after some time we got the feeling they are all making fun of us and that maybe it’s April Fools Day or something…
Other than that we really enjoy living here. A little strange but wonderful to wake up every morning with a good feeling of being on a nice vacation when I’m actually at home!
Close distance to everything you need, excellent food and everything is cheap, from great restaurants to the sun. There are great flight connections to many cities in Europe which is absolutely perfect for us who travel all the time. Not surprisingly Malta is a very popular resort for Brits and Scandinavians and it’s also the perfect place to combine poker with party and sun!
This week I’m ready for the big battle… BOOM!
