Playing more 6-max
95 % of the three million hands I played the last years have been full ring but lately I’ve been focusing on 6-max and really worked on my game to adapt to this change. Since there are very few full ring tables above $1/2 I need to play 6-max in order to play higher stakes. I certainly mix it up more, playing a little looser and experiment with new moves to keep winning. I mainly play $0,5/1 and $1/2 and take a few shots at $2/4 right now while learning. I’m tracking the results from this closely to follow the development and also work on some leaks. (Check the graph below) I have been running above EV so far – lucky as usual…. playing 200k hands in total this year (multi tabling obviously).
I’ve also played some live cash game last months at the local Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg. It’s meant to be full ring but there are quite often only 5-6 players at the table. During the weekends these games get totally crazy and although the levels are SEK 20/20 ($ 3/3) with 200bb BI’s, there are loads of fish and nearly always a big whale donating. I’ve had some insane profits last sessions which more than compensated for a bad run a couple of weeks ago. Tomorrow I’m going to play a local live tournament called Spring Poker Week Main event with a $800 buy-in on here in Gothenburg. I came 4th for and cashed $13.000 two years ago so I have a really good feeling about it.
I still think online is more profitable long term due to the possibility to play so many more hands/hour.
While waiting for the Vegas adventure, four weeks this summer, I will put in a lot of grinding hours online and continue to develop my 6-max game.
Here is the Cash game graph from the first three months this year (in reality 2 months because I had a break from PKR’s Cash games most of January when I was in Bahamas and Sicily) PKR 58k hands, 7377bb’s won. Hold’em Manager 2 is awesome, just like PKR!
