A seafood Gem in Batam
We spent four days in Batam, an exotic Indonesian group of islands just outside Singapore. One day we made a trip to a little fishing village where I had one of the best lunch experiences of my life at Kelong Restaurant, Citra Utama. We got to choose our lunch from cages in the sea, and 20 minutes later it was served as fresh as it could be! A local family ran this seafood restaurant with some of the best crayfish I have ever tried. I never thought I ’d find better seafood than on the Swedish west coast but I have to admit that this was even better.
I would definitely suggest you put this on your restaurant bucket list.
I find it more and more fascinating and educational to see how people live in different parts of the world. The people in Batam, some of them with no roof over their head, welcomed us with positivity, kindness and the best hospitality. Although materially quite poor but they had strong family relations and still looked like the happiest people in the world. They reminded me what real happiness actually is about. Remember to always take care of each other!
